People across parts of England and Wales woke up to a blanket of snow, with police warning motorists to avoid driving amid "treacherous conditions". Heavy snow has left vehicles stranded and some roads impassable in mid and south Wales. Police in Ystradgynlais, in southwest Powys, Wales, warned of icy roads with vehicles stuck in Coelbren, Neath Road Ystradgynlais and many other locations. A Met Office warning for snow was issued for half of Wales's 22 counties, but ended at 10am. A second yellow warning for rain will stay in place in 13 counties until 11pm.
