A road off Billericay High Street is currently shut by police following a major incident. Alma Link is closed in both directions near Waitrose due to an incident at around 1pm today (Monday, July 29). Police and paramedics remain at the scene, while an air ambulance is also believed to have landed nearby to offer assistance. The exact details of the incident remain unknown at present. Essex Police and the East of England Ambulance Service have been contacted for commet.

AN air ambulance has landed in Billericay after a serious crash this afternoon. The crash was reported to have taken place near the high street, at around 1pm, at a pedestrian crossing on Alma Link, according to Essex Police. The air ambulance was seen landing at Queen Elizabeth II Park. Residents reported that traffic on the high street has been building for some time. A spokesman for Essex Police said: "We are currently on scene at Alma Link, Billericay following a road collision.

"We are asking motorists to avoid the area and surrounding road where possible. There are closures in place in adjoining roads including Chapel Street and the High street." Police have yet to confirm the number of vehicles or the nature of injuries suffered by those involved in the crash.
