A serious accident on the M25 is likely to cause delays for Dartford Crossing traffic this morning, (Friday, September 25). The M25 anticlockwise is closed following the accident between junction five for the M26 and junction four for Orpington. The road has been closed since 5.25am while emergency services work at the scene and traffic has also been held on the clockwise carriageway since 6.20am. There is currently six miles of queues stretching beyond junction three for the Swanley Interchange and right up to junction 1a at Dartford. The crash is further along the M25 but congestion is easing back towards the Dartford Crossing, affecting drivers leaving Essex.

As rush hour traffic at the Dartford Crossing is expected to worsen, motorists are advised to plan ahead and follow diversion routes.
