A59 road York Accident


Published by May Norman at 9:15am 11th November 2019. Police close the A59 following an accident A59 between the A1 and Knaresborough is currently closed. It follows a serious accident. Emergency services are at the scene, Police have confirmed road closure. There's been a serious accident on the A59.


It's affecting traffic on the stretch between the A1 and Knaresborough - between Goldsborough roundabout and Flaxby. It happened earlier this morning (Monday, 11 November). At this stage, it's unclear what has happened or how many vehicles are in involved. Police have confirmed the road will be closed for some time. More to follow.

(Updated at 9:34am 11th November 2019) Police say the A59 will remain closed for 'some time' following a major collision near Knaresborough. The road is closed in both directions near to the A1 roundabout. Witnesses have told Minster FM that two cars appear to be on fire. Emergency services are at the scene - including the Yorkshire Air Ambulnace. At 9.15am North Yorkshire Police tweeted: ⚠️ Road closed ⚠️ We're currently at the scene of a serious collision on the A59 between Knaresborough and A1. The road is likely to be closed for sometime.
