Jude Bellingham will join Borussia Dortmund from Birmingham City, it has been confirmed. The attacking midfielder, who turned 17 in June, will move to the Bundesliga club in a deal worth around £25million following the Blues' final Championship game of the season on Wednesday night. Borussia Dortmund 1 Bellingham has signed a five-year deal with Dortmund Bellingham – Birmingham's youngest ever player and widely considered one of the brightest talents in the game – was also courted by Manchester United. The Premier League giants made a strong attempt to convince the starlet to join them, inviting him to the training ground and enlisting Sir Alex Ferguson for help. However, the England Under-17 international opted for Dortmund after much deliberation.
He said: "I can't thank Birmingham City enough for what they have done for me, not just this past year but since the age of seven. "Of course I wish everyone associated with the Club nothing but the best. Once a blue always a blue. "However, I'm incredibly excited to have joined one of Europe's biggest clubs. "The direction they are heading in and how much they help to improve young players made it an easy decision for myself and my family. "I can't wait to perform in front of all the fans when they are back inside one of the most beautiful stadiums in the world." ⚡️ @BellinghamJude to join Borussia Dortmund ⚡️ Our youngest ever player will leave Blues following the final game of the season. — Birmingham City FC (@BCFC) July 20, 2020 Dortmund announced the signing with a cheeky – and cringey – rendition of the infamous Beatles hit 'Hey Jude'.
