Summerslam 2020 Results, Recap & Opinion

Asuka def. Sasha Banks (c) to win the Raw Women's Championship Drew McIntyre (c) def. Randy Orton to retain the WWE Championship The Fiend def. Braun Strowman (c) to win the Universal Championship Match of the Night: Seth Rollins def. Dominick Mysterio in a Street Fight Dominick Mysterio had his first ever WWE match and it was an impressive affair. He managed to surprise Seth Rollins at many points, and even had The Messiah beat at some points. Mysterio proved he could not only hit some good moves but also tell a compelling story. Dominick had told his father Rey he wanted to do it on his own. Rey couldn't help but get involved, and ended up being handcuffed to the ropes. When Rollins turned his attention to Dominick's mom Angie, that fired up the young Mysterio to almost make the comeback. In the end, a Blackout ended Dominick's first match in defeat. Dominick is going to be a player for WWE if they let him. Three Thoughts: The Big Dog Cometh Roman Reigns is back, and he's better than ever. He's back for the first time in a while, and he appears to be heel. After The Fiend put away Strowman in a disappointing match to win the Universal Championship, Reigns appeared and speared both men. He seems to have a slightly new appearance, a new shirt that says "wreck everything and leave", and a new attitude. Reigns is coming for the title right away, and he should rule the roost on SmackDown. Latest From FPC on SportsCastr Two Woman Power Trip No More Asuka went one for two in her title matches at Summerslam. She was unsuccessful first against Bayley, thanks to an assist from Sasha Banks. Later in the night, Asuka got a crack at Banks herself. Bayley was unable to help Banks, as an Asuka lock won Asuka the Raw Women's title. The dynamic duo of Bayley and Banks are down to just three title belts instead of four. They didn't break up or have a falling out, but this could signal the beginning of the end for this duo. McIntyre Holds On Randy Orton is on fire as a heel, and so many people expected him to dethrone Drew McIntyre. After a hard fought battle, McIntyre managed to put Orton away with a backslide. Orton is likely not done chasing the belt, and Payback is already this coming Sunday. Could they give Orton the sneaky win in a rematch? It wouldn't surprise me to see the belt trade hands next week to continue to draw eyes to the show. Grade: A This was one of the most consistently good pay-per-views in recent memory. Outside of the main event, every match hit it's mark. Mandy Rose defeated Sonya Deville and sent her packing from WWE. The Street Fight was excellent, and both women's championship matches were excellent as well. Roman Reigns was the cherry on the amazing sundae. One More Thing: The first sign to get traction in the Thunderdome is one I bet WWE hoped they caught earlier.
