The TikTok WAP Challenge is a viral sensation (Picture: @addisonre/@jena/@jamescharles) If you're on TikTok you'll know that the site is no stranger to the crazes – and the latest one seems to have taken even the celebrity world by storm. And it's all the fault of Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion, whose track WAP has spawned the WAP dance challenge. It's certainly become a popular craze, with the results being streamed millions of times as TikTok stars and other celebs treat followers to their version, while Jason DeRulo found a sneaky way to stop to his girlfriend Jena Frumes from doing it. Here's what you need to know… Advertisement What is the TikTok WAP dance challenge? As the title suggests, the WAP dance challenge on TikTok involves users trying to recreate the sexy moves from Cardi B and Megan's music video – and sharing the results with their followers.
It appears to have taken flight earlier this month after choreographer Brian Esperson posted his version of the routine, which racked up millions of views – and other users have been flocking to show off their own attempts at the routine, which features high kicks, splits and twerking. It's inspired the likes of Addison Rae, Charli D'Amelio and James Charles – who even incorporated a trampoline into his version – to take part. Jason DeRulo took things a step further, and stopped his girlfriend Jena Frumes from taking part by knocking her into their swimming pool as she showed off her WAP moves. James Charles has got some serious moves going on: (Picture: @jamescharles/TikTok) WAP has proved to be the biggest pop culture moment of 2020 – with fans loving the female empowerment anthem – but others criticising the duo for the overly sexualised lyrics.
