Amad Diallo: Man Utd sign winger from Atalanta

By netting in the 7-1 victory over Udinese, he became the youngest player to score in their first Serie A game, at just 17 years and 109 days. He went on to play two more games for Atalanta in a 2019/20 season blighted by the coronavirus pandemic, as rumours circulated that Europe's premier clubs were about to move for the youngster. Manchester United have completed the signing of the Atalanta teenager Amad Diallo on a deal until 2025 with the option of a further year. United reached an agreement with the Serie A club for the 18-year-old player on 5 October, subject to a medical, work permit and medical terms. United have confirmed those steps have been completed and an application has been made for a visa, which once issued will allow Diallo to travel to Manchester and join Ole Gunnar Solskjær's side.

Solskjær said: "As a club, we have followed Amad for a number of years and, having watched him myself, I believe he is one of the most exciting young prospects in the game. Diallo, whose shirt number has yet to be revealed, said: "After waiting since the summer, it is finally a dream come true to complete my move to Manchester United. "This is a really exciting squad with so many great players, I can promise that I will work hard every day to learn from them and give everything to develop my game. The Uruguayan deleted the post immediately and apologised for any offence caused, but there was shock from the commission that United had not at that stage given the player media training, given the size of Cavani's Instagram following. "In light of the player's high profile in the game, his inability to speak English and the fact that he had approaching eight million Instagram followers, the commission were surprised that no such 'training' had been specifically put in place for the player by his club," it stated in its written reasons for issuing the ban.

Manchester United have completed the signing of Amad Diallo from Atalanta on a four-and-a-half-year deal. An agreement was reached between the two clubs for the 18-year-old during the last transfer window but the move was subject to a medical, work permit, and personal terms. The Ivorian winger has the option to extend his contract, which runs until June 2025, by a further year. "Manchester United has such a proud history of developing young players and everything is in place to enable Amad to reach his potential here.

Diallo commented: "After waiting since the summer, it is finally a dream come true to complete my move to Manchester United. "This is a really exciting squad with so many great players, I can promise that I will work hard every day to learn from them and give everything to develop my game. "I have had time to prepare for this move, both physically and mentally, and I have worked really hard to be ready to make the step up to this amazing club." Diallo will be permitted to travel to Manchester and to train with and play for Solskjaer's side once his visa has been issued. Diallo flew into Rome this week as part of the visa procedure to complete the move and confirmation has now been granted by officials at the Ivory Coast Embassy to rubber-stamp his switch to United. United announced they had signed the 18-year-old winger on the final day of the previous transfer window and are hopeful Diallo might be able to begin training with Solskjaer's squad at Carrington as early as next week.

Diallo, who joined the Premier League club for £37.2m, has made only two appearances as a substitute for Atalanta this season - once in the Champions League against FC Midtjylland, and on one occasion in Serie A versus Hellas Verona. The youngster made his debut for Atalanta last season, becoming the youngest player - at 17 years and 109 days old - to score on his Serie A debut in their 7-1 thrashing of Udinese. As a result, the Ivorian travelled with the Atalanta squad to Lisbon for their Champions League quarter-final defeat to Paris Saint-Germain last summer. Diallo has featured in just four league games for Atalanta, but the player has impressed in training, so much so that Papu Gomez recently likened him to a certain Lionel Messi. 1:50 Italian football journalist Fabrizio Romano believes Paul Pogba will remain at Manchester United in the January transfer window with his future decided in the summer Manchester United confirm Amad Diallo Traore has completed his transfer from Atalanta and will arrive after he is granted a visa. "Manchester United is pleased to confirm Amad Diallo's arrival from Atalanta has been finalised," read a statement. "The Ivorian winger has signed a contract to the end of June 2025, with the option of an extra year. "When an agreement between the clubs was first announced on 5 October 2020 - deadline day at the end of the summer transfer window - it was subject to a medical, work-permit and personal terms. Once this has been issued, Diallo will be cleared to travel to Manchester and to train with and play for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side." Atalanta coach Gian Piero Gasperini had said he hoped to keep Diallo for the rest of the season on loan, but Manchester United and the player were eager to get the move done. Diallo had just two appearances for Atalanta this season, both as a substitute, for a total 35 minutes of football between Serie A and the Champions League. London (AFP) Manchester United announced on Thursday they had completed the transfer of Ivorian winger Amad Diallo from Serie A side Atalanta. The agreement between the clubs was first announced on October 5 but the transfer was subject to a medical, work-permit and personal terms. Once this has been issued, Diallo will be cleared to travel to Manchester. United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer said the teenager had been on the club's radar for a number of years. "Manchester United has such a proud history of developing young players and everything is in place to enable Amad to reach his potential here," he said. He is a player with all of the raw attributes that are needed to be an important player for Manchester United in the years to come." "I have had time to prepare for this move, both physically and mentally, and I have worked really hard to be ready to make the step up to this amazing club," he added. © 2021 AFP
