"Also her movie comes out soon! I'm sure she's just as incredible in it as everything else she does. For the first time, Cole Sprouse confirmed his breakup with Lili Reinhart—and it might be the sweetest breakup announcement ever? "Lili and I initially separated in January of this year, deciding to more permanently split in March," the actor wrote in the caption of a woodsy photo he took of his Riverdale costar. That last sentence is likely in reference to yesterday's report that Reinhart spoke out about their split in a Refinery29 interview.
"The last couple of months have probably [been] the most emotional few months of my entire life, and my therapist [told] me, 'Your body's going through withdrawal from love,'" she told R29. "'You're used to having this exchange of happy chemicals between you and the person that you're with.' In moments of my life, I have dropped every ounce of pride that I had just to be like, Love me. Please take the pain away for a day, a second, an hour, just so I can feel that fix again." However, just hours after the interview was published, Reinhart took to Twitter to clarify her statements. "Quotes taken from my most recent interview are not about a 'breakup,'" she tweeted on August 18. "They are about the depression I've felt over these last few months.
Thanks guys ❤️." Originally Appeared on Glamour Cole Sprouse is speaking out about his breakup with fellow Riverdale costar Lili Reinhart. In an Instagram post on August 19, he shared a photo of Lili and a caption addressing the end of their relationship. "Lili and I initially separated in January of this year, deciding to more permanently split in March," Cole wrote. "What an incredible experience I had, I'll always feel lucky and cherish that I had the chance to fall in love. I wish her nothing but the utmost love and happiness moving forward. All I'll say about it, anything else you hear doesn't matter." He concluded his statement with a promo for her upcoming movie, Chemical Hearts, which comes out August 21. "Also her movie comes out soon!" he said. "I'm sure she's just as incredible in it as everything else she does." The pair likely started dating sometime around 2017 after meeting on the set of Riverdale. They've remained fairly private about the specifics of their dating life, though they attended the Met Gala together in 2018 and 2019. Last July, reports surfaced that the two had ended their relationship, and then that they hadn't. Cole's statement comes a day after Lili talked to Refinery29 about dealing with depression and grief. "I couldn't see the light. I was like, I feel like I'm dying. It was f*cking rough, and there's no other way through it than just through it," Lili said in the interview, which many attributed to her talk about her split with Cole. In a series of tweets, however, Lili clarified that those words "are about the depression I've felt over these last few months." She added, "I would never speak so candidly about something as personal as a breakup. That's incredibly private." Let us slide into your DMs. Sign up for the Teen Vogue daily email.
