Could this week see the end of DI Malone? (Picture: ITV) Emmerdale's resident bent copper, DI Malone (Mark Womack) will find himself in a seemingly precarious situation in scenes airing tonight. The detective will go to desperate lengths to prove to Dawn (Olivia Bromley) that he's not a force to be reckoned with after she reported his menacing behaviour to the police, upon her discovery he had been having an affair with Harriet Finch (Katherine Dow Blyton). But her decisive action didn't go as planned, as Friday's episode ended with the sinister detective threatening to kill her son Lucas. Does Malone die in Emmerdale?

Malone will attempt to intimidate Dawn by encouraging her to take her own life by overdosing on heroin. And not only that – he'll pull a gun on her when she tries to stand up for herself. Luckily, a mystery person will come to her rescue, but not before the camera pans to a seemingly lifeless Malone. Actor Mark has given no indication he plans to leave the soap, but has teased that manipulating and controlling people could lead to his character's downfall. He told Metro.co.uk: 'He likes messing with people's heads, especially Will's. I think he generally just enjoys the whole game of it all. 'That's his thing, there's a bit of him that just enjoys manipulating people and getting them into situations and controlling people and that might be his downfall. 'He kind of loses control along the way and that might be what gets him.' In addition to speaking about his own character's potential downfall, Mark discussed the possibility of Malone being responsible for several others' — suggesting that he'd be willing to do whatever it takes to remove a threat.'
