E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial Henry Thomas Steven Spielberg

Sky reunites ET with the original Elliot in what viewers are calling "the best Christmas advert this year"

It would appear Sky have set the bar high with their 2019 Christmas ad campaign. It's going to take some beating, but who could beat reuniting Elliot and E.T. for the first time after 37 years?. In the over 4 minute Ad for Sky advert E.T. comes back to visit his friend, Elliott, for the holidays. During his stay, E.T. learns that Elliott now has a family of his own and that technology has completely changed on Earth since his last visit. Actor Henry Thomas reprises his role of Elliott opposite the puppet.

Even though E.T. came from the Alien enthusiast Steven Spielberg, the filmmaker was not involved in the short film but he did give his blessing for the ad. New trailer arrives for 'Onward' On the Holiday reunion Thomas stated Thomas says: "Looking at the storyboards, I could see exactly why Steven was really behind it because the integrity of the story isn't lost in this retelling." 'E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial' is one of the classics from the Spielberg vault, released in 1982 the film starred Henry Thomas, Dee Wallace, Peter Coyote and an adorable Drew Barrymore. It tells the story of Elliott (Thomas), a boy who befriends an extraterrestrial, dubbed "E.T.", who is stranded on Earth. Elliott and his siblings help E.T. return to his home planet while attempting to keep him hidden from the government. 1982 was a big year in advertising with the birth of Wieden+Kennedy and Bartle Bogle Hegarty and there was also a rather popular movie, Steven Spielberg's ET.

ET is back in a blockbuster Sky Christmas ad, made by Sky Creative Agency (SCA) and new owner Comcast's US agency Goodby Silverstein. Henry Thomas, who played ET's pal Elliott 37 years ago, is back as a dad. Spielberg is involved too with the great man supervising the storyboard. The pitch is that Sky connects everything and everybody but really it's about creating a nice warm feeling about the satellite broadcasting giant (and its movie offer.) There've been some Christmas crackers this year although not always from the usual suspects.
