Judges on the programme were stunned when the 44-year-old rockstar unmasked himself on stage of the ITV show. A blown away Rita Ora was even handed a rose from The Darkness' frontman. She later admitted that she got a bit flustered when she came face to face with him. When asked why he took part in the programme, Hawkins said he did it to show that he was "still alive".
The musician revealed that it was a challenge to keep his identity under wraps, reports the Mirror. "Keeping secrets is challenging, especially when you effectively disappear for the duration of the filming," he said. "I used a combination of bluffery, bare faced lies and vague muttering to explain my absences. "I'm basically James Bond." Asked what he found most difficult about the show, he said: "The toughest part of the process was learning relatively modern songs. I'm not fond of new music, so I had to force myself to assimilate inferior compositions... Plus it was difficult to sing from within a helmet!" Chameleon landed in the bottom two with Duck, who fans believe they know who it is. She mentioned that she liked learning languages, while one of her clues was that she had sung to David Bowie. Her love of languages shone during the sing-off, which saw her sing opera. And one excited fan was convinced that it was Skin from Skunk Anansie, point to her old tweets. Earlier, fans also appeared confirm Queen Bee's identity after unearthing information after she gave away a major clue. Her voice stunned viewers and judges alike, with most believing that they were a professional singer. After being asked to give two truths and a lie, she said that she was under 30, well known in the fashion circles and not known for singing on stage. But as the judges mulled over it, fans were stuck on the fact that she had said she was an activist in her VT. One tweeted: "The Queen Bee is definitely Nicola Roberts! I remember this law change so distinctly! The viewer pointed to the former Girls Aloud star working with Andy Burnham and Cancer Research UK to change the law so that under-18s weren't able to use sunbeds ten years ago. Earlier, fans were left completely and utterly confused over Unicorn's identity. Initially, fans had been convinced that the character's identity was Scots-born actor John Barrowman, but they now reckon if might have all been one huge bluff. In this week's VT, the celeb mentioned John Barrowman - leading some to believe that he was pretending to be the Dancing on Ice judge all along. Many even suggested that the person behind the mask was Glee star Kevin McHale, who recently took part in X Factor: Celebrity. (Image: ITV) One tweeted: "Ok...so it's not John Barrowman then?! #TheMaskedSingeruk." While another commented: "Hmm unsure of the unicorn now John Barrowman or Matthew Morrison!! #TheMaskedSingeruk #unicorn #whoisit #saturdaynight #frustrating." "Hmm I'm thinking that voice is Kevin McHale and he was over at the time. #TheMaskedSingeruk," another wrote. One suggested: "Kevin McHale is the unicorn #TheMaskedSingeruk."
