Errol Spence, the welterweight world boxing champion, miraculously survived after crashing his Ferrari in Dallas early Thursday morning. The crash happened just before 3am when Spence's Ferrari crossed into oncoming traffic and flipped over several times, ejecting Spence, who wasn't wearing a seatbelt, police said. Spence was taken to a hospital and placed in the intensive care unit. "Spence is awake and responding and his condition is listed as stable. He did not sustain any broken bones or fractures but has some facial lacerations.
He is expected to make a full recovery," the Spence family said in a statement. Police said they're still investigating the cause of the crash, but they noted that the Ferrari was going at a "high rate of speed" at the time. "Errol was in an accident, and his parents are with him at the hospital," Premier Boxing Champions spokesman Tim Smith told ESPN. "The doctors are monitoring his condition, but his injuries are not life-threatening. We will have further updates as the doctors update his condition. We're all wishing the best for Errol."
