ESSEX Police are currently on scene at Alexandra Lake, Thurrock following reports of a missing person.

Police are searching a river this evening for a missing person. A number of emergency service personnel are in attendance at a river in Thurrock. People are being urged to avoid the area as police and emergency crews search the river and surrounding area. Police were called shortly before 9pm to Lakeside. The person thought to be missing is believed to be just a teenager.

Firefighters from Grays, Corringham, Orsett, Leigh Fire Stations attended alongside colleagues from the Service's Urban Search and Rescue Team. They were called at around 8.50pm to reports that a teenager had gone missing in the lake. A search is continuing with the help of the Fire Service and people are being asked to avoid the area.
