The first 'Wonder Woman 1984' trailer brings back bad perms, plus Chris Pine in a fanny pack It's the '80s, baby! If you can't get enough of big shoulder pads, tragic hair and great tunes, the first trailer for "Wonder Woman 1984" is here. Thankfully, filmmakers have mostly left their hands off Gal Gadot's loose tresses, but there are severe crimps and bad cuts aplenty for everyone else in Patty Jenkins' new sequel. The footage, unveiled Sunday at Comic Con Experience in Brazil, is heavy on airborne action, awesome era-appropriate mall shots and, apparently, a trip back to Themyscira. But the best part for fans is when Steve Trevor (Chris Pine), cleverly disguised in an '80s fanny pack and looking not a day older, presses a (digital) watch into Diana Prince's palm and tells her to save the world, just as he did before he flew off to his doom in the World War I-set first movie.
Also: Kristen Wiig is introduced as Diana's frenemy Cheetah, aka archaeologist Barbara Minerva, as is Pedro Pascal, starring as infomercial king Max Lord. Fans went particularly bonkers over shots of Gadot suited up in glistening golden eagle armor. "wonder woman fighting in the golden eagle armor," @nighztwing tweeted. "that's it that's the tweet." Others were enchanted by shots of Gadot swinging off lightning bolts with her golden lasso. "If you had told 80s little me that someday I would grow up to see Wonder Woman use her lasso set to 'Blue Monday'... I. Am. Dead," @acapitalchick wrote on Twitter. "Wonder Woman 1984" hits theaters on June 5, 2020.
