Fortnite's Operation Snowdown arrives: Free rewards and how to get them Epic Games has officially launched its Operation Snowdown event in Fortnite, the one leaks had suggested would be this year's 'Winterfest.' Operation Snowdown comes with the snowman skin we previously saw leak, as well as new challenges, rewards, and more. As well, and as previously teased, planes have returned to the game. Operation Snowdown will take place from December 18 to January 5, giving players a few weeks to finish the Snowmando's Quests to earn new skins and other rewards. As well, winter and holiday scenery has overtaken the Fortnite island, including snow, lights, and gifts. The most interesting part of Operation Snowdown for most players is likely the Snowmando Quests, which includes the Snowmando skin, a Frosty Globes Pickaxe, Shield Surprise Back Bling, plus other similar offerings.
Players who finish the full dozen of challenges will get the Frost Squad Outfit. The plane, meanwhile, is joined by other items with a dedicated winter theme, including the Chiller Grenades, Sneaky Snowmandos, and the return of presents with goodies inside. Epic says that Fortnite will offer a revolving series of previous Limited Time Modes like Air Royale, plus there will be a new LTM called Shockwave. Players can rotate through these LTMs using the 'Showdown Shuffle' playlist option. As you'd expect, Epic has also released new holiday-themed items in the Item Shop.
The players will have to be riding in a vehicle while they perform eliminations. The maximum number of players you will need to defeat is 15 to finish or max-out the challenge. Legendary Challenges are worth 55,000 XP for the first stage and 22,000 XP for each stage after, with a cosmetic reward if you finish all stages. Eliminations while in a Vehicle (5 stages) Epic Challenges Epic Challenges are worth 20,000 XP each. Damage players with Assault Rifles or SMGs (0/500) Headshot Damage to players with Pistols or Sniper Rifles (0/200) Eliminations while in a Vehicle (0/1) Now for these Epic challenges, a majority of these are going to be fairly easy to complete.
CHILL SNOWMANDO QUESTS, FREE REWARDS Over the course of Operation Snowdown, Snowmando will offer Quests you can complete for free rewards, including the perfectly-wrapped Shield Surprise Back Bling, the snowglobe-topped Frosty Globes Pickaxe, as well as Gliders, Wraps, another Back Bling and Pickaxe, and more. If you complete nine Operation Snowdown Quests, you'll unlock the Snowmando Outfit, and if you complete twelve, you'll unlock the winter-inspired Frost Squad Outfit. Having a battle-filled background, Snowmando has brought in wintery items from his piercing past. Take flight in Snowmando's custom X-4 Stormwing planes, and on the ground, disguise yourself as an ordinary snowman with Sneaky Snowmandos, cause cold feet with Chiller Grenades, and gift yourself loot with Snowmando-wrapped Presents! Fortnite's Operation Snowdown will feature a rotation of returning LTMs, including the fan-favorite Air Royale, plus the brand new Shockwave LTM, which sees players compete to knock each other into the (extra-strong) Storm as it shrinks down to nothing. Also, Pickaxe Frenzy will arrive in LTM form for the first time. You can also play these LTMs via the Snowdown Shuffle, a playlist that'll put you in one of them at random. NEW HOLIDAY OUTFITS, RETURNING HOLIDAY OUTFITS In the spirit of the season, Operation Snowdown will include new holiday Outfits in the Item Shop plus holiday-themed Outfits from seasons' past. Also, from now until January 5th at 9 AM ET, the caroling Sing Along Emote will be available for free in the Item Shop. Players who purchased it previously will have the V-Bucks they spent returned to them. Fortnite's holiday event has frozen some of the battle royale map while giving players new challenges to complete. Operation Snowdown has a number of special rewards you can earn within the next two weeks--here's a guide on how to handle one of the most challenging ones. The challenge tasks players with visiting Snowmando Outposts across the Fortnite map. Where Are All The Snowmando Outposts? The Snowmando Outposts are scattered throughout the map. One can be currently found in the new section of the map that's been snowed in, while the other four are in old locations. All you'll need to do is land at them for a brief second to complete each section of the quest. Here's a map with specific locations. The holiday event also reintroduced the X-4 Stormwing planes to Fortnite, so you can easily land at some of these locations and then fly to the others. The best way to do it is to land at the location below Steamy Stacks, grab a plane, and then fly to the others. What Do The Snowmando Outposts Look Like? Fortnite Snowmando Outpost The Snowmando Outposts are buildings with a red gift wrapping exterior. They're filled with holiday items like gifts, reindeer, and nutcrackers. You'll also find loot and chests inside them but those get snatched up quickly. You'll need to open chests at Snowmando Outposts to complete another quest; you can do that while you're visiting them for the first time. What Do You Get For Visiting All Snowmando Outposts? You'll unlock the special "Frost in Action" loading screen once you've visited all outposts. There are 15 Snowmando quests to complete over the next two weeks. Fortnite's annual holiday event is back, and this time, it brings a surprise: the return of airplanes. "Operation Snowdown," as it's called, lasts from December 18th to January 5th, and it adds the expected to the game, including a snowy map and free unlockables like a soldier snowman called Snowmando. Everyone who logs in before January 5th will also get a free caroling emote. The timing is perfect: planes were first introduced in season 7, back in 2018, which was also a winter-themed update for the game. In addition to the new missions and free unlockable cosmetics, the event will also include a rotating selection of limited time game modes, starting with the return of Air Royale. There will also be new holiday-themed items for purchase, including a shifty-looking candy cane man. Following a massive supervillain-themed live event, the game kicked off its latest season on December 2nd, introducing new characters like the Mandalorian and Baby Yoda. Since then, Master Chief and Kratos have joined the battle royale game, and Epic has also continued to improve Fortnite on next-gen consoles.
