The 28-year-old had been without a club since being released by Colchester United at the end of June. Nouble was a regular member of the side during their 2019/20 League Two campaign and started both legs of their play-off semi-final against Exeter City, which they lost 3-2 on aggregate. He played in both of the U's games against Argyle last term – a 1-0 defeat at Home Park last August and a convincing 3-0 victory at the Colchester Community Stadium in February.
Nouble did not score in the latter fixture but still impressed with his powerful performance in attack. It is his physicality and hold-up play that will have caught the attention of Lowe, especially as Ryan Taylor was released earlier this summer. Nouble made a total of 83 starts and nine substitute appearances in his two seasons with Colchester and scored 14 goals. He is added to the striking options at Argyle which also include Luke Jephcott, Ryan Hardie, Byron Moore and Dom Telford. Hardie was signed on a season-long loan from League One rivals Blackpool last week.
It marked a return to Home Park for the 23-year-old, who scored seven goals in 13 games during a spell with the Pilgrims last term. Nouble has gone on to play for a number of clubs at all levels in England, as well as playing for two sides in China. He spent the 2017/18 season with Newport County before joining Colchester that summer. FRANK Nouble has signed for Plymouth Argyle following his departure from Colchester United. The 28-year-old has linked up with the Pilgrims, who were promoted from League Two last season, following the expiry of his contract at the U's. Nouble scored five goals and contributed six assists in his 38 appearances for Colchester, last season. In total, he made 92 league and cup appearances for the U's since joining them from League Two rivals Newport County in July, 2018. The former West Ham United youngster scored 14 times, in that time. The experienced attacker featured in the play-offs for the U's, despite being informed he would not be retained by the club when his contract expired, along with Luke Prosser, Ryan Jackson and Brandon Comley. After suffering defeat in the play-offs at Exeter, he tweeted: 'Lowest I've felt in a long time all the best to Exeter in final. 'Enjoyed every minute at club with boys, staff and fans bar today obviously coming just short. 'Too many unreal moments to forget tough pill to swallow this!' Nouble is Plymouth's third summer signing, as boss Ryan Lowe plans for their new season in League One.
