His character was tragically killed off earlier this year just before he was about to propose to Audrey Roberts. Heartbroken Audrey found Lewis lifeless on the floor with an engagement ring in his hand in emotional scenes. Lewis' name was dragged through the mud when grandson Nick Tilsley framed Lewis for stealing her money. The conman, who managed to redeem himself in his final stint in Weatherfield, is supposed to be dead - but Nigel hasn't ruled out a return to the cobbles.

Nigel Havers teases Coronation Street comeback as dead Lewis Archer's twin

The veteran actor would welcome a return to Corrie in the future, despite his character being six-feet under. On the conspiracy that Lewis is still alive, Nigel told the Loose Women: "You just don't know. Or he has a twin brother somewhere. I absolutely love doing it. The people are so nice and the storylines are amazing. Lewis suddenly passed away on New Year's Day - starting a civil war with the Platt family. But Lewis was a notorious conman and his 'death' may have been faked as part of another devilish scheme. Nigel said: "I played a charmer years ago and this was an updated version. In the end I turned out to be really nice. I had the engagement ring in my pocket." Adding more fuel to speculation Lewis is still alive, he added: "Or maybe I'm in Barbados waiting to come back." (Image: ITV) Nigel also told the Loose ladies that his wife, Georgiana Bronfman, was jealous when he snogged co-star Sue Nicholls. He joked: "I have been a snogger in my time. She's not and didn't like me snogging Audrey. "But I've introduced them now so she's fine." *Loose Women airs weekdays on ITV at 12.30pm
