Tommy Smith scored a 92nd-minute winner at the New York Stadium in February 2017 after goals from Joe Lolley and Elias Kachunga had twice seen Town come back from behind. Rotherham would go on to be relegated that season while the Terriers were promoted to the Premier League, and this afternoon will be their first league meeting since that 3-2 win for Town that provoked a strong physical reaction from Warne. He explained: "You can't beat a good derby with fans but to be fair every game in the Championship the fans are crucial. Our stadium is normally buzzing for every game so it does hit us harder at home than it does for away fixtures.
It is sad fans can't be in for it. "Last time I managed us against Huddersfield Town in the Championship, we were 2-1 up and I thought we had life sussed, but Kachunga scored and then Smith scored one from the edge of the box, and as he hit it I literally threw up in my mouth. "We ended up losing 3-2, I know how enjoyable and exciting derbies can be and this Saturday I hope we are on the right end of that scoreline." "It is sad for fans, but at the moment that is how it is." Sign up for the Huddersfield Town newsletter Why you should sign up?
