Formal identification has not yet taken place, but the 52-year-old's family have been notified of the discovery in Alice Holt Forest in Hampshire. The death is not being treated as suspicious, Hampshire Police said. Mr Morris set off jogging from his home in Bentley, near Farnham, at 10.30am on May 6. The former ambassador to Nepal was last seen running in Islington Road in nearby Alton. After weeks of searching officers announced the discovery of a body on Monday.

Hampshire Constabulary said in a statement: 'Officers investigating the disappearance of Richard Morris from Bentley have today found a body in Alice Holt Forest. Advertisement 'Formal identification has not yet taken place, but the 52-year-old's family have been notified. 'The death is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner.' Mr Morris was the ambassador to Nepal between 2015 and November 2019 and accompanied the Duke of Sussex during his tour of the country in 2016. The 52-year-old went missing after he went for a run in the Bentley area, near Farnham, at around 10.30am on Wednesday, May 6. Specialist officers had searched more than nine square kilometres of land in their efforts to find him, with the assistance of British Transport Police and Hampshire Search and Rescue Service. Although the search was scaled down on June 3, the investigation remained ongoing and the force renewed its appeal. The areas searched included Alice Holt Forest, where a body was found by officers on Monday (August 31). A Hampshire Constabulary spokesman said: "Officers investigating the disappearance of Richard Morris from Bentley have today (August 31) found a body in Alice Holt Forest. "Formal identification has not yet taken place, but the 52-year-old's family have been notified. "They are being supported by specialist officers.
