The Hits Radio presenter shared a video from her latest home workout on Instagram. The 36-year-old said it felt good to be training again after eating 'rubbish.' And she spoke of the effects that eating and drinking over the festive period had on her body. "First one back after 5 days off eating c*** and man did I feel it!" the former Emmerdale actress wrote alongside the video. (Image: Gemma Atkinson/Instagram) "Eating rubbish and doing nothing feels good for about a day for me.
After five days I've started to have the headaches, feeling sluggish, sleeping not so great and even breakouts of spots. "We're all different but my body responds quickly when I don't fuel it right. "It's telling me 'Gem, stop feeding me s***e please, I can't function properly!'" The mum-of-one from Bury says that although it was nice to let her hair down over Christmas, she felt it was time for a reboot. "Obviously it was Christmas so the cupboards and worktops are filled with stuff we don't normally buy in and it was nice to have the time to eat, drink and be merry! But mentally I feel a bit blurgh..." she said.
"I need some vegetables, some water and a good sweat. "Back to the grind! Back to feeling my best self!" Sharing some words of inspiration she wrote: "I knew today's session would be hard, yours probably will be too, but don't be put off! "See it as a new start point, a new challenge and a way to take care of yourself again. Your health really is your wealth." It comes after the former Emmerdale actress and her Strictly Come Dancing professional beau reunited following the grand final of the BBC show, in which he was a runner-up with partner Maisie Smith. Gemma and Gorka were forced to spend time apart while he competed in Strictly due to the programme's support bubbles amid the coronavirus pandemic, which meant that one half of a dance partnership lived alone, while the other could remain with their household. Sadly, the pair were dealt another blow due to lockdown rules and travel restrictions over the festive period, as they were unable to visit Gorka's family in Spain as planned. Fortunately, Gemma chose to see the positive side of the situation, as her family are healthy and they could speak to relatives they were missing on FaceTime. They were also able to see Gemma's family on Christmas Day, as the couple live in Manchester, which is a tier 3 area – where people were allowed to form a Christmas bubble with two additional households.
