The first full trailer for Christopher Nolan's next movie, "Tenet," hints at a time-bending theme, and the director of "Dunkirk" and "The Dark Knight Rises" seems to be flashing back to the puzzle-like structure of some of his earlier films, like "Memento" and "Inception." John David Washington stars as a secret agent who apparently dies and is brought back to life with the ability to anticipate events that haven't yet occurred. His mission is to prevent World War III, which is described as worse than a nuclear holocaust. The only clue how to do it is a single word — the palindrome "tenet." In addition to Washington ("BlacKkKlansman"), the trailer offers footage of frequent Nolan collaborator Michael Caine as well as "Dunkirk" veteran Kenneth Branagh. Also seen are Elizabeth Debicki ("Widows") as well as Robert Pattinson, who will soon be stepping into Nolan's former superhero franchise as "The Batman." With large-scale action sequences that include the scaling of a skyscraper and a car chase that takes place partly in reverse, "Tenet" hits the big screen on July 17.
