Air Jordan 1 OG Dior Sneakers Have Officially Launched

To mark the launched of the limited-edition Air Jordan 1 OG Dior Sneakers, Dior is launching an exclusive online experience that allows participants the opportunity to purchase a pair of a first-come, first-serve basis. This comes right after the Fall 2020 men's show in Miami, where Dior and Kim Jones teamed up with Jordan Brand to create the Air Jordan 1 OG Dior limited-edition sneakers as well as an Air Dior capsule of ready-to-wear and accessories. Participants who want to secure these sneakers will be given on a first-come, first-serve basis to the lucky individuals who register before the inventory is exhausted. Coinciding with this event, the house also unveils a series of images by photographer Brett Lloyd featuring the Air Dior Collection, a capsule that continues to enrich the collaboration with Jordan brand. Each participant may select just one boutique and register only once for the desired style and size. Air Jordan 1 OG Dior sneakers will be available for purchase exclusively in selected Dior pop-ups and pop-in stores only by registering on the digital microsite. Collection stores include Ion Orchard, Singapore, House of Dior in Seoul and Siam Paragon in Bangkok among others. The store pick-up date will be sent via SMS or email shortly following verification of eligibility.

A unique QR code with the individual's name will be issued. A matching government-issued ID will be required at the time of purchase. The Air Dior capsule collection of ready-to-wear and accessories, in collaboration with Jordan Brand, will be available to shop at Dior pop-in stores from July as well as in two pop-up stores located inside the Selfridges Corner Shop (London) and Taikoo Li (Chengdu). Dior just released its highly anticipated Air Jordan collaboration here. The collection can be reserved online on a first-come, first-served basis for in-store pickup at a later, unspecified date.

Dior's site says it will send out confirmation emails for those able to purchase pairs on July 1. There has been scant information about the arrival of the Dior x Air Jordan 1, the most coveted item from the capsule, since the public first saw the shoe in December 2019. Details about a release surfaced in March 2020 that suggested the shoe would be available first on April 6, but the widening of the coronavirus pandemic resulted in a delay. The collab with the French fashion house includes the Air Jordan 1, Air Jordan 1 Low, and a range of ready-to-wear apparel and accessories. The Air Jordan 1 High Dior pairs were made in Italy, hence the unusually high price.

Ahead of its release, the Dior x Air Jordan 1 High was expected to retail for $2,200. The shoe is listed on secondary markets like StockX in a wide range of astronomical prices, with some sizes hovering around the $10,000 mark. The hotly-anticipated collaboration between Dior and Jordan brand has finally arrived. Already one of this year's most-talked about releases, the limited-edition Air Jordan 1 OG Dior sneakers in both high and low-top will be made available to customers on a first come, first serve basis by way of a special microsite. The unique online experience was strictly developed for this momentous partnership alone.

Additionally, the launch of the special experience coincides with the unveiling of images showcasing the Air Dior collection – a capsule consisting of apparel meant to complement the Air Jordan 1 Dior sneakers. The collective consists of shorts, trousers, a track ensemble, knits, tops and jacket. The streamlined tones and pared-down styles elegantly bring together sportswear and tailored looks with precision and sophistication. Head to Dior's special microsite for your chance to purchase and to experience this unprecedented product partnership. In other fashion news, Dior's latest pieces featuring Shawn Stussy's art gets spotlighted by Maxfield LA. About a month before writing this piece, I saw what I assume was an early sample pair of Air Jordan 1 High OG Dior sneakers, the collaborative effort conceived by Kim Jones, which was unveiled at the Parisian super brand's Fall 2020 show in Miami last year. They were for sale on sportswear resale site StockX – for approximately over `20.5 lakh. To put that in context, for a little more money you could buy a hot-off-the-forecourt Mercedes A180 Sport. And it's even more bonkers when you consider that the RRP of the sneakers, which is now available to the wider public – for a heartbeat, at least – is just under `2 lakh. The extraordinary thing about Jones is his ability to take something quotidian – mundane even – and transform it into something special. Like the Rumpelstiltskin of the fashion industry, he has been blessed with the talent of transforming leather and rubber into solid gold. Case in point: these new sneakers, which are available in both high- and low-top form. Although they might look simple enough on the surface, they have actually been crafted from the finest calf leather in Italy and feature hand-painted edges. "We constructed the sneakers with special stitching, echoing the unique savoir-faire used on the house's iconic saddle bag," says Jones. It's not just trainers that Jones is transforming into gold this month. In line with the OG launch, Dior has also unveiled a capsule collection of ready-to-wear items designed for the court (or, more likely, your next stylish gig). Produced in collaboration with Martin Lotti, the Jordan Brand's VP of design, the collection consists of a series of cashmere sweaters, capacious shirts, classic sports jackets and easy-wearing trousers, all finished in hues that complement the on-foot star of the show, namely midnight blue, white and steel. "This collaboration leverages each brand's footprint of luxury innovation," says Lotti, "and the Air Jordan 1 High OG Dior design pays tribute to the rich iconography and heritage of both brands."
