The New Orleans Pelicans will host the Los Angeles Clippers in a Western Conference battle Thursday night from the Smoothie King Center. The Clippers are coming off a 102-93 road loss to the Rockets, and the Pelicans dropped a 122-116 home decision to the Rockets in their latest action. The Pelicans won two of three over the Clippers last season. Clippers Fall to Rockets, Kawhi Expected to Sit Out The Los Angeles Clippers will conclude a quick two-game road trip in this one. The Clippers had trouble offensively in their 102-93 road loss to the Rockets on Wednesday night to snap a two-game winning streak.
The Clippers only shot 38% in the defeat. Kawhi Leonard is expected to sit out this game against the Pelicans after playing in Houston last night. Leonard is averaging a team-leading 26 PPG. The good news is Paul George is expected to make season debut in this game after dealing with a shoulder injury. The veteran small forward is coming off a career-best 28 PPG along with 8.2 RPB with the Thunder last season. Lou Williams will play a big role in this game if Leonard does indeed sit out. Williams is consistently producing, netting at least 20 points in four consecutive games. The 33-year old shooting guard stands second in team scoring with 22.1 points and he is averaging over five rebounds per game. Williams averaged 18.3 points in three games against the Pelicans last season. The Clippers haven't been scoring as many points recently, and they are currently averaging 110.2 points on the season, ranking them 16th in the NBA. Los Angeles is holding opponents to 106.5 points, placing them ninth overall, and they hold a 1-3 road record.
