Udinese reportedly inform Leeds United that it will take an offer of £40m to sign midfielder Rodrigo De Paul. Leeds United reportedly remain no nearer to reaching an agreement for Udinese midfielder Rodrigo De Paul. The Yorkshire giants have already made several big-money additions this summer with Robin Koch, Diego Llorente and Rodrigo Moreno all moving to Elland Road. Last season's Championship winners are still looking to bring in a new playmaker, however, with De Paul said to be at the top of their shortlist. However, 90 min claims that Udinese are not prepared to sell the Argentina international for anything less than £40m.
With De Paul still having just under four years left on his contract, the Serie A outfit are in a strong position with regards to his future. Leeds had initially hoped that £25m would be enough to tempt Udinese into a sale. The Premier League side splashed a club record £30 million to sign the 29-year-old from Valencia a little earlier this summer. But Leeds fans are yet to see what their money has bought up close due to the global health emergency.
There's a lot of work to do, but class is permanent and he'll hope to open his account in this afternoon's trip to Sheffield United. That is according to 90Min, who claim the Italian outfit are digging their heels in over the sale of De Paul. Leeds have been linked with the 26-year old for a number of weeks now but a deal is seemingly looking harder and hard to do. In that time, the Whites have also splashed the cash on Diego Llorente, while the likes of Todd Cantwell and Jens Petter Hauge are among other names the club are said to be chasing.
Yes, he is a fine player, but the likes of Klich, Phillips, and Hernandez have started the season very well, allaying any fears they might struggle to perform in the PL. There are cheaper options out there for Leeds. So while De Paul would have been a superb addition, it may be time to walk away now. Leeds won't raise De Paul offer By Football Italia staff Rodrigo De Paul looks set to remain with Udinese, as Leeds United have not raised their offer to reach the €35-40m asking price. According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, the Friulani refuse to lower the price-tag for the Argentina international. Leeds have made no secret of their interest in the midfielder, but negotiations have not progressed. The 26-year-old is in the starting XI for this afternoon's Serie A opener against Hellas Verona. De Paul has 17 senior caps for Argentina, while last season he scored seven goals with six assists in 34 Serie A games.
