Leicester City have hatched a plan to deal with Tottenham Hotspur's interest in Ricardo Pereira. According to Belgian media outlet GVA, Leicester have set their sights on Aurelio Buta. Brendan Rodgers will move for Buta if Tottenham launch a move for Pereira. Jose Mourinho is pondering reinforcements for his Tottenham team in January. The defence might be looked at and Pereira appears to be one of their targets.
Tottenham have Serge Aurier at right-back but his defending is unpredictable and inconsistent. Kyle Walker-Peters is the back-up but he has failed to kick on with his career. Mourinho seems to be a fan of Pereira. The 26-year-old has been in superb form for Leicester over the past two seasons and is an integral part of Rodgers' plans. With Pereira at right-back, Leicester are up to second. The Foxes do not want to lose momentum if they lose Pereira. This is why Royal Antwerp right-back Buta is an option. The Portuguese defender is also a target for Wolves and Watford, as per The Daily Mail. TBR's view Pereira would be an ideal signing for Tottenham. He is at the right age, he probably wouldn't be too expensive and he can do the defensive and attacking duties required of a modern-day full-back. As for Leicester, losing Pereira would be a blow. Buta, 22, is highly-rated, though, so he could be the long-term option at right-back.
