Sane was heavily linked with the Bundesliga giants over the summer, but a move failed to materialise after he was ruled out for seven months in August with an ACL injury. However, the German champions are still understood to consider the winger as one of their top targets and are expected to reignite their interest. Although Sane's current injury is likely to rule out a move in January, Goal and SPOX report that the Bundesliga giants are still hopeful of bringing the Germany international to the Allianz Arena next summer. By then, the winger would have returned to full fitness and will have entered the final year of his current contract.
And according to the publications, Bayern bosses were recently pictured meeting with leading Italian agent Branchini, with a move for the 23-year-old understood to be top of the agenda. Branchini has close links with the German club and Bild reported that he met with Sane's agent David Gardner last month to discuss a transfer. It is claimed that the German champions are keen to build their team around the winger after a number of impressive performances for Pep Guardiola's side. Sane joined City from Schalke for an initial £35million in 2016 and has gone on to score 39 goals in 134 appearances for the Premier League champions. Despite the speculation over his future, the Germany international started City's first game of the season but lasted just 13 minutes of the Community Shield win over Liverpool before sustaining the injury to his ACL. In Sane's absence, City are third in the Premier League and nine points behind leaders Liverpool as they look to defend their title. Guardiola's side head travel to Newcastle at the weekend after securing a place in the last 16 of the Champions League with a draw against Shakhtar Donetsk on Tuesday.
