Naby Keita has started the first two Premier League games, but Takumi Minamino did well against Arsenal in the Community Shield. Connor Dunn: Interestingly for me, if Thiago and Alisson are able to play then I'd go for a 4-2-3-1 formation. That is because I believe Thiago, who played in a holding two at Bayern Munich, would be a wonder next to Fabinho in shielding the defence and linking the play. And a regular, more recognised and world-class back five that sees Alisson in goal and Joe Gomez in centre-back means you have the luxury of being able to tinker with the formation a little bit. With that, I'd go for Sadio Mane, Takumi Minamino and Mohamed Salah in the three with Roberto Firmino leading the line but give all four players a lot of free reign to fluidly change positions and run amok among the Arsenal defence with a set-up not seen before by the Gunners. However, should there be no Thiago and no Alisson it's a case of Fabinho playing alongside Gini Wijnaldum in a midfield three while I'd also put in Naby Keita to join them in this set-up while Adrian starts in goal. My teams (4-2-3-1 or 4-3-3): Alisson; Alexander-Arnold, Gomez, Van Dijk, Robertson; Fabinho, Thiago; Salah, Minamino, Mane; Firmino OR Adrian; Alexander-Arnold, Gomez, Van Dijk, Robertson; Fabinho, Wijnaldum, Keita; Salah, Firmino, Mane. Paul Gorst: So the big issue for Liverpool is what happens if Thiago Alcantara and Alisson Becker don't make it. My back five becomes Adrian, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Joe Gomez, Virgil van Dijk and Andy Robertson. The return of Gomez frees Fabinho up to return into midfield alongside Gini Wijnaldum and Naby Keita. Liverpool have dominated possession recently against Arsenal but failed to create so the presence of Keita is a must. Up top, I'm resisting the big claims of Takumi Minamino to play the traditional trio of Sadio Mane, Mo Salah and Roberto Firmino. My team (4-3-3): Adrian; Alexander-Arnold, Gomez, Van Dijk, Robertson; Fabinho, Wijnaldum, Keita; Salah, Firmino, Mane. But things have been complicated further by questions over whether Thiago and Alisson will be fit to start, after the pair missed training sessions at the weekend. Fabinho occupies the deeper midfield position, with Gini Wijnaldum and Naby Keita ahead of him. My team (4-3-3): Alisson; Alexander-Arnold, Gomez, Van Dijk, Robertson; Fabinho, Keita, Wijnaldum; Salah, Firmino, Mane.
