Audiences will be treated to two new special episodes of Normal People as part of Ireland's RTÉ Does Comic Relief on Friday, 26 June. Normal People first aired on BBC3 in April, becoming one of the most popular series of lockdown. The Comic Relief special episodes will see Daisy Edgar-Jones and Paul Mescal resume their roles as Marianne and Connell. Comic Relief founder Richard Curtis confirmed the news in a recent radio interview. Normal People is largely set in between Sligo and Dublin, with one episode based in Italy, in Marianne's family holiday home.

Paul has also joined forces with Comic Relief, with the charity revealing this week that Normal People will return for two specials after series one broke BBC iPlayer records.

Paul is best known for playing Connell in Normal People His fans were loving the special reading, with one commenting: "This is excellent and your voice is so beautiful," while another added: "It gets better...he reads children's books," accompanied by a love heart eye emoji.
