The A169 from Whitby to Pickering is blocked both ways and police say it is closed to all vehicles. It is due to snow from the A171 Guisborough Road in Whitby to Woodlands Park in Pickering. People in Bridlington are being urged to be cautious as the A166 at Garrowby Hill to and from York is thick ice covered in snow. Police say it is causing a hazard to road users. Police say stretches of the A19 in Hambleton are "treacherous" this morning due to overnight snow.

North Yorkshire Police say they have attended numerous collisions on the road. The stretch between Crathorne and Northallerton is particularly dangerous, officers say. A police spokesperson said: "We have already attended multiple collisions and incidents. "Please take extra care and drive to the conditions." Elsewhere in North Yorkshire the A61 between Ripon and Harrogate is also reported to be dangerous due to snow.
