Amy Winehouse's mother has tweeted a heartwarming tribute to her daughter on the ninth anniversary of her death. On Twitter, Janis Winehouse posted an image of a pair of her daughter's white heels alongside a candle. Alongside the image was a simple caption that read: "Love Janis Xxx." Fans have celebrated the singer/songwriter throughout the day, while stars including Tony Bennett and Paul Weller have also offered heartfelt messages. "Amy was born with the spirit of jazz and her voice inspired countless others to keep the music alive," tweeted Bennett, who collaborated with Winehouse on a duets album.
"Remembering a sensational voice and a dear friend on the anniversary of her passing." Weller wrote: "Nine years ago today, we lost one of the greatest voices that music has seen. Forever in our hearts Amy Winehouse." The official Brit Awards account also tweeted: "Her impact and presence are still felt years on and we feel honoured to have had her perform on our stage and to have presented her with the British Female Solo Artist award in 2007." In the wake of her daughter's death, Janis Winehouse co-founded a charitable foundation to inform and support young people in relation to addiction and mental health.
