Paramount has revealed the redesigned Sonic the Hedgehog in the new trailer for the live-action movie. The first design of the live-action Sonic was met with such a backlash that the movie was delayed, and it seems like the delay has been worth the wait as this is a much better design for the speedy hedgehog. Sonic's new look is more in-line with what fans expect and closer to the game design, with less of the realistic features that terrified fans first time around. Sonic the Hedgehog follows the adventures of Sonic (voiced by Ben Schwartz) as he teams up with his human best friend Tom (James Marsden) to stop the villainous plans of Dr Robotnik (Jim Carrey). Star Jim Carrey wasn't that convinced that fans should have been able to have a say in the movie.
"I don't know quite how I feel about the audience being in on the creation of it, while it's happening," he said. "Sometimes you find that the collective consciousness decides it wants something and then when it gets it, it goes, 'OK, I don't want it'." Paramount After the delay in release, Sonic the Hedgehog will be released in UK and US cinemas on February 14, 2020.
