The 57-year-old appeared alongside friend and co-host Holly Willoughby for the show and was in a buoyant mood. Celebrity judge Ashley Banjo said that he had nothing but 'love and respect' for the host and Philip looked moved. Once the judges made their way onto the ice, Ashley said: "You have always been an absolute legend but never ever more so than this week my friend. Phillip looked like he was going to cry before making a joke and saying: "It's not about me, it's not about me." The presenter, came out as gay on Friday morning with an emotional social media post.
Following his lengthy, heartwarming post, he appeared on This Morning to be interviewed by co-host and friend Holly Willoughby. Holly began the This Morning segment by saying: "I've never been more proud of my friend than I have today" and then read out Philip's statement. The nation's favourite double act Ant and Dec say they are "sending love" to Phillip Schofield after he announced he was gay. I have been married to Steph for nearly 27 years, and we have two beautiful grown-up daughters, Molly and Ruby. Yes, I am feeling pain and confusion, but that comes only from the hurt that I am causing to my family.
Sitting on the sofa, Phil, told Holly that now was the right time to come out. "You know this has been bothering me for a long time," he said. Phillip said there were "no secrets" between him and his wife. When Holly asked how Steph was coping, Phil said it was "tough". "With the strength and support of my wife and my daughters, I have been coming to terms with the fact that I am gay. Phillip has also admitted he knew he was gay when he married Stephanie 27 years ago. He said in an interview: "I must have been gay when I wed but I was so happy I never considered it.
