Pic: @JRWhiteNoise Four people have been injured in a suspected gas explosion in Wandsworth, south London, police say. An elderly man has been taken to hospital and three other people were treated at the scene for minor injuries. Emergency services were called to reports of the explosion in south London and found damage to a block of residential flats. Debris was strewn across the scene and windows appeared to have been blown out.
Crews have been working to help those injured but there is currently no information on their condition. Advertisement No arrests have been made and a police cordon has been put in place. Drivers are also asked to avoid the area as emergency crews continue to work at the scene. Metropolitan Police Sergeant John Nicolaou said: "At this stage we believe up to three people have been injured as a result of what is believed to be a gas explosion. "We await a full update on their condition. "The Health and Safety Executive will be informed in due course and the Gas Board are at the scene now. "All emergency services continue to work together at the scene along with the local authority."
