Police have revealed however that a 35-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder.

A murder investigation has been launched after the body of a man was found at a house in Tameside. Greater Manchester Police said officers were called to Sand Street in Stalybridge after 'reports of concern for the welfare of a man' earlier on Friday. Once there, the body of a 47-year-old man was discovered. A post-mortem examination is due to take place to identify a cause of death. Police have revealed however that a 35-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder.

Neither have been named by the force. The man under arrest remained in police custody on Friday night for questioning. Detectives described a 'fast-moving investigation' and said they were working to piece together the circumstances surrounding the tragedy. There's said to be 'no threat' to the wider community.
