Bobby, whose real name is Ackquille Jean Pollard, is a rapper and songwriter from Miami. He signed with Epic Records after peaking in sixth place with the song 'Hot N****' on the Billboard Hot 100 in 2014. Bobby released his debut EP album 'Shmurda She Wrote' in November, 2014 and a month later he was arrested. Bobby quickly became a rap sensation and performed on stage alongside the likes of Drake and Meek Mill. He also rose to fame for 'Shmoney Dance', a famous dance routine, which got the attention of top artists like Beyoncé, Jay Z, Rihanna and Justin Bieber. Why is Bobby Shmurda in jail? According to The Guardian, Bobby was arrested in December 2014 over alleged links to a criminal street gang called 'GS9'. The publication wrote that the rapper received charges for "first-degree conspiracy, criminal possession of a firearm, and reckless endangerment". Moreover, the report claimed that members of the gang were allegedly responsible for murder and assault. According to New York Times, Bobby pleaded guilty in 2016 to conspiracy and the possession of a gun. The rapper initially received a 7-year prison sentence which has been reduced to five years. Bobby Shmurda's release According to The Shade Room, Bobby's parole hearing is happening on August 18th. Bobby's mother Leslie Pollard told the publication: "The parole hearing is scheduled for August 18th. We [are] very confident that things will go well, and as always we know God will see us through, he always does." The Shade Room also claims that the rapper is reportedly planning to release music with Epic Records, though there are no other details confirmed at the moment.
