The force received a call to the Redlands Road area of Penarth at about 14:00 BST on Thursday. Two men have since been taken into custody with armed officers still in the area as a precaution, police said. A witness, who did not want to be named, said they heard three shots fired following an altercation near the junction with Stanwell Road. Police are also reported to be in attendance at other locations in Penarth but the force has not confirmed whether they are connected. Police are appealing for information as their investigation continues. A spokesman from South Wales Police said: "Shortly before 2pm today police in Penarth were called following reports of a firearm being discharged in the Redlands Road area. "Two males have been taken into custody. A number of scenes have been preserved. Armed police officers have been deployed as a precaution. Investigations continue. "Anyone with any information or video footage of this incident is asked to contact South Wales Police on 101 or anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555111 and quote incident 675 of August 13."
