Published by Karen Liu at 7:48am 28th July 2020. A man has been rescued after a mayday call from a yacht at Runswick Bay. Staithes and Runswick RNLI and Runswick Bay Rescue Boat were called shortly after 1pm on Sunday (26th July). The man on the yacht required treatment for a suspected fractured ankle. He was initially assessed by members of Runswick Bay Rescue Boat and Staithes RNLI, and his injury was splinted before being taken onto the beach by the Coastguard. The man was then handed over to the care of Yorkshire Ambulance Service who took him to the James Cook University Hospital for treatment.
