Officers on patrol in Salford spotted a car being driven at speed at around 11.40pm on Wednesday before initiating a pursuit. During the chase, in Frederick Road, the car collided with two third party vehicles, leaving a man and woman with serious injuries. Photos from the scene show police officers on the street near three cars, with one having had two of its doors removed and partially covered in a sheet.
A police patrol car is also seen with its blue lights flashing. One officer was snapped photographing the site, while four others were huddled together in conversation. A high performance Audi that belongs to Greater Manchester Police was parked alongside the crashed cars. The B-road, which runs over the River Irwell and railway lines, is home to a number of businesses, as well as the University Of Salford Podiatry Clinic. It closed from Broad Street to Lissadel Street following the incident.
A spokesman said at the time: "Police were called just before 1.40pm on Sunday 12 April 2020 to reports of a road traffic collision involving a car and a bicycle on Frederick Road in Salford. "The cyclist has been taken to hospital to be treated for injuries sustained." The force later added: "The cyclist was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries where he remains in a serious condition." Photos at the scene show a car with two of its left-hand doors ripped off partially covered with a plastic sheet. Two of the crashed cars are also seen in pictures and a police cordon is in place. Officers spotted a vehicle being driven at speed on Frederick Road at around 11.40pm on Wednesday night (September 23). Police began a chase before the vehicle in question crashed with two other cars. Two men who were travelling in the car being pursued were killed at the scene, police said. One man and two women from the other vehicles were taken to hospital with what has been described as serious injuries. A police cordon was in place on Frederick Road from Broad Street to Lissadel Street following the smash. A high performance Audi that belongs to Greater Manchester Police was seen inside the cordon along with three other vehicles. A silver vehicle could be seen directly behind the Audi. Specialist investigators were called to the crash site, and could be seen taking photographs of the scene. Police have not made any arrests. The collision came after a speeding car crashed into two others in Salford, Greater Manchester. It followed a police pursuit, Greater Manchester Police said. Dramatic images from the aftermath show a silver, blue and black vehicle all damaged. Debris can be seen scattered across the floor following the accident, which happened shortly before midnight. "Officers initiated a pursuit and the vehicle in question collided with two third party vehicles. "Two men from the vehicle in question were sadly pronounced dead a short time later. "One man and two women from a third party vehicle were taken to hospital with serious injuries. "In line with normal procedure, this incident has been referred to GMP's Professional Standards Branch and the IOPC."
