After impressing a celebrity chef in the first half of the show, The One Show host suddenly pulled out of the show after falling ill. Returning to the infamous Masterchef kitchen, hosts John Torode and Gregg Wallace explained that Gethin would not be coming back. Gregg said: "Can I start by saying Gethin is not joining us, he is unwell. I'm sure, like all of us, you wish him all the best and a speedy recovery." The voiceover then added: "With Gethin unwell and unable to continue in the competition, it's down to the last six to continue in the final." Getting back to business, the six remaining contestants continued cooking – but viewers were left distracted by Gethin's disappearance. Taking to their keyboards, Celebrity Masterchef fans expressed their concerns for Gethin's health, disappointed he had left the competition.

One said: "Oh no @GethincJones has gone because he's poorly, what a shame for him." "Gethin... nooooooo," added a second. And a third wondered: "What happened to @GethincJones?" Earlier in the episode, Italian chef Aldo Zilli appeared on the show, teaching the celebrity finalists some of his most beloved recipes. Gethin was instructed to cook a piece of fish on a bed of polenta, decorated with seasonal vegetables as a garnish. (Image: BBC) Praising Gethin's cooking, presenter Gregg swooned: "I think it's an absolute triumph my friend." The Welsh TV personality was thrilled with his feedback, telling the cameras: "I'm absolutely buzzing after that." Unfortunately, his unexpected exit – and the elimination later in the episode – meant just Sir Matthew Pinsent, Sam Quek and Riyadh Khalaf remained in the competition. The gang whipped up food for the staff at the Guide Dogs charity – with Apprentice star Thomas Skinner eventually sent home. And Amar – the show's first ever blind contestant – opened up about the tense scenes, joking that he assumed they were cooking for the dogs. During an appearance on today's episode of This Morning, the 45-year-old told Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford: 'It makes things easier when you can't see because you can't see any problems. Amar opened up about his time in the infamous MasterChef kitchen (Picture: ITV) 'We were cooking for the Guide Dogs Centre so I was just imagining lots of these lovely little labradors. 'I thought I might not need to cook that great, I thought it might be for the dogs,' he laughed. 'But it wasn't, it was for the people working in the centres.' Those would have been some very lucky pups… Amar was joined by fellow semi-finalists Sam Quek, Sir Matthew Pinsent, Phil Daniels, Judi Love, Riyadh Khalaf, Gethin Jones and Thomas, to cook for 100 people, in celebration of the 90th anniversary of Guide Dogs For The Blind. After the tense task, they returned to the infamous MasterChef kitchen to recreate their favourite takeaway. – however, Thomas' offerings weren't quite up to scratch, and he was eliminated. And Amar was convinced he would be the one who was sent packing after he didn't get rave reviews from the judges. 'I feel it was a very close call. A very, very close call,' he told the cameras. 'And I'm so glad I've got the opportunity to keep going.' The host will get another chance to impress the judges in the final, on BBC One tonight, from 7.30pm. This Morning continues on weekdays, at 10am, on ITV. Got a story?
