Nikkie released the video in response to a blackmailer who had threatened to reveal her story as people were previously not aware she was trans. So, what is the story of Nikkie de Jager, best known as NikkieTutorials?
Who is NikkieTutorials? Nikkie, 25, is one of the most popular beauty influencers around, boasting 12.7 million YouTube subscribers. Born on 2 March 1994 in Wageningen in the Netherlands, she rose to popularity in 2015 after posting a viral YouTube video called 'The Power of Makeup.' In the video, she made up half of her face while keeping the other bare, showing the transformative power of makeup, while also making a statement against 'make up shaming.' The vlogger frequently posts videos with tutorials and makeovers and often collaborates with other beauty influencers such as Jeffree Starr. Snoop Dogg also narrated one of her tutorials, to hilarious consequence. In her recent video, Nikkie addressed her relationship with partner Dylan Drossaers, describing him as 'kind-hearted' adding that he is a 'strong, inspiring human being.' Nikkie got engaged to Dylan earlier this year after he proposed during a romantic trip to Italy. The pair met through a mutual friend and while Dylan has appeared in a few of Nikkie's videos, they keep their relationship relatively private. Dylan is quiet on social media, revealing very little on his Instagram or Facebook. Nikkie de Jager's quotes on coming out Nikkie started off by saying she wanted to start off 2020 'with the truth.' She said: 'I was born in the wrong body which means that I am transgender.' Here are some other snippets from the emotional 17 minute video: I am still Nikkie. Nothing changes about that. The last thing I want in my life is for you to not trust me anymore, or to look at me with different eyes, or look at me in a different manner, or think that I have changed.' 'I want to inspire little Nikkies around the world who feel insecure, who feel out of place, who feel misunderstood — I hope by me standing up, and being free, that it inspires others to do the same — to truly live your life like you wanted and the way you deserve.' 'It is 2020: it's time for us to understand, accept, hear, and respect.'
