The accountancy firm hired by Mike Ashley to audit his retail empire has ditched its own top management after finding problems in their own accounts. RSM removed its chief executive and finance and chief operating officers just before Christmas, it has emerged. The firm also mis-stated its accounts in 2013, leading to its collapse and sale to competitor Baker Tilly. It has been trying to become a leading mid-market rival to the big four auditors, which are under pressure from politicians to reform. RSM said the error related to 'historical claims provisioning' and had no impact on cashflow.
