The Gunners midfielder posted a picture of himself with Arsenal coach and club legend Robert Pires. Alongside it he wrote: "Trained with this AFC legend this morning. Always a pleasure to see you my Bro Robert Pires. Best of luck for the match now from both of us." Ozil has fallen down the pecking order at an alarming rate at Arsenal under Emery, despite being the club's best-paid player, and has featured sporadically in the Premier League.
He was hoping to get some minutes under his belt in the Europa League this Thursday, but wasn't even named on the bench at the Emirates. (Image: REUTERS) Ahead of the game, Robin van Persie said of the Ozil situation on BT Sport: "It's a shame, he's one of their best players. "He's really good but something is not quite right at the moment with him and the coach so hopefully that gets solved for Arsenal. (Image: X01222) Martin Keown added: "There is no doubt about his ability, it's the work ethic, it must be. Can he find a why to play him?
"I don't think he's as committed as I would like to see him, and I think there is evidence, there is hard evidence." Arsenal have already identified a potential long-term successor to the on-loan Dani Ceballos, it has been suggested. The Gunners brought the 23-year-old in on loan from Real Madrid in the summer and he has been a regular under Unai Emery. Ceballos has played in all nine of Arsenal's Premier League matches this season as well as their three Europa League games, helping them to a 3-2 win over Vitoria at the Emirates last night. Arsenal do not have a clause in the deal with Real Madrid to make the move permanent but it has been suggested Emery may look to do so next summer after his Bernabeu return. Trending Asked about the possibility of signing Ceballos full-time yesterday, Emery responded: "I think it is too soon to say that." And Football London report that, amid suggestions from Spain that Ceballos could leave the Bernabeu for as little as £30million, Real Madrid would likely want far more than that amount. Arsenal sought to include an option to buy the player in the deal they negotiated with the Spanish giants over the summer with Los Blancos determined not to do so. If the north London club are forced to look elsewhere, Football London claim that there is one player who is already on Emery's radar. RB Salzburg midfielder Dominik Szoboszlai is one player who Arsenal have already spoken with, having been in contact with his representatives earlier this year about a move next summer. The 18-year-old Hungarian has three goals and three assists for the Austrian outfit this term and recently faced Liverpool at Anfield in the Champions League. They add add that Szoboszlai, who has played largely as a left-sided midfielder this season for Salzburg, is being closely watched by Arsenal's scouting department. However, Szoboszlai - who can also play in central midfield and as a No 10 - is also courting interest from across Europe with Salzburg having impressed when they lost 4-3 to Liverpool, coming back from 3-0 down to level the game at 3-3 before losing. Football London claim that Szoboszlai's attack-minded nature could mean he is seen more as a Mesut Ozil alternative, rather than as a successor to Ceballos more centrally.
