The M5 is partially closed this morning (Monday, July 20) after a pedestrian was hit by a vehicle. The incident occurred sometime after 5am on the southbound carriageway between junction 20 for Clevedon and junction 21 for Weston-super-Mare. Witnesses at the scene have reported seeing a "huge" emergency service presence on the motorway. A traffic memo from Avon and Somerset Police states that a pedestrian has been struck by a vehicle on the carriageway. The M5 southbound is currently closed between junction 18 for Avonmouth and junction 21 for Weston-super-Mare.
