Sony's Playstation 5 is arguably the most in-demand games console on the planet right now. A worldwide PS5 shortage is directly due to a shortage of the console's chips. And this problem has been compounded by distribution and manufacturing issues exacerbated by the coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic. The resulting PS5 stock scarcity has now left many millions of Playstation gamers frustrated for months. This resulted in many gamers failing to land a PS5 in time for Christmas.
PS5 manufacturer Sony forecast 8.5 million units will have been built by the end of March, after originally stating general demand will only be met in the first few months of this year.
