Saoirse Ronan has been spotted cuddling with rumoured beau Jack Lowden as they took her dog named after a Love/Hate character out for a stroll. The pair stepped out of the Ladybird star's West London flat to enjoy some treats from a bakery as well as a canoodle in a park. The rumoured couple had met while starring as husband and wife in the hit period drama Mary Queen of Scots. However, the four-time Oscar nominee's dog Fran — named after Peter Coonan's character in RTE's Love/Hate — stole the scene. Saoirse has previously hailed her rescued Westie/Golden Retriever cross as a genius and that she had decided to name her after the inner-city Dublin drug dealer character.
Speaking to Ian Dempsey on Today FM, the 26-year-old said: 'I'll tell you… and only people from Ireland will get this. 'Fran from Love/Hate is my favourite character, and I love Peter Coonan in it. And I told him this, that I called my dog Fran after him'. Telling the radio DJ about rescuing Fran, she said: 'Originally we wanted a boy dog, but then we met Fran and we were like, no, it's only ever been you, so she got the name. 'Technically she's Frances, but she's really named after a drug dealer from inner city Dublin.' Although Jack Lowden had initially denied romance rumours, Saoirse had previously said that she felt 'very comfortable' filming scenes with the Scottish actor.

Saoirse admitted that 'only Irish people' would understand the name of her pooch, saying: 'Fran from Love/Hate is my favourite character and I love [actor] Peter Coonan in it. Saiorse has previously explained how her name, which means 'freedom' in Irish, is pronounced: 'It's Ser-sha, like inertia.' Something her ever-rising career is never blighted by.
