One of the horses that was predicted as a possible challenger to Kentucky Derby favorite Tiz the Law held steady on the closing lengths of the Kentucky Derby to claim the roses and the Kentucky Derby trophy. Authentic ran close from the start of the race Saturday afternoon at Churchill Downs and took the lead to hold off a late challenge down the home stretch by Tiz the Law. Authentic was trained by Bob Baffert. Tiz the Law took second, with longshot Mr. Big News owned by Chester Thomas of Madisonville taking third. The Kentucky Derby win was the sixth for trainer Bob Baffert, who ties the record held by Ben Jones.
