Man Utd midfielder Angel Gomes arrived at Carrington for what could be his final training session with his teammates. Angel Gomes has been pictured arriving for Manchester United training ahead of his expected exit from the club. The 19-year-old is out of contract on Tuesday night and is not expected to feature for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side in their upcoming Premier League fixture away at Brighton. Speaking on Monday morning Solskjaer said there was no update on Gomes' future, suggesting the 19-year-old is set to leave the club with no new deal agreed between the two parties. "Got no news, nothing," Solskjaer said.
To be honest, I've not heard from them last night or this morning, it seems like they haven't managed to agree so the answer is probably short and yes, then." MEN Sport revealed Gomes rejected United's opening offer of a new deal earlier this season and the forward has been unconvinced about his playing prospects at the club. United will only be entitled to a compensation fee for Gomes if he moves to another club, but Solskjaer was still keen to include the academy graduate in first-team training ahead of their match against Brighton on Tuesday night. Solskjaer's side are unbeaten in their last 14 matches in all competitions but have never beaten Brighton away in the Premier League. Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has reportedly found how to use Angel Gomes an 'agonising' dilemma this season. The youngster's contract at Old Trafford expires on July 1.
Gomes is wanted by Chelsea and Barcelona ahead of the summer transfer window and, now, looks set to continue his development away from Old Trafford. The 19-year-old has been at the club since the age of six but has been unable to agree a new contract with Old Trafford bosses. The club are believed to have offered him a deal worth £25,000 – £30,000 but the player has been holding out for more. Talks have reached a stalemate and with Gomes' current contract set to expire tomorrow, Solskjaer was asked for an update on the situation at this morning's pre-match press conference for the Brighton game. 'I've not heard from him last night or this morning so it seems like they haven't managed to agree anything,' was the Norwegian's answer.
"I've not heard from them last night or this morning, it seems like they haven't managed to agree. The answer is probably short and 'yes [he's leaving]', then." Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has appeared to confirm Angel Gomes' Manchester United career is over. The Red Devils academy graduate has made 10 first-team appearances for Man United, but he has struggled for playing time this season. AFP or licensors 1 Gomes has failed to have the same success at Manchester United as fellow academy graduates Marcus Rashford and Mason Greenwood The emergence of Mason Greenwood, as well as the January signing of Bruno Fernandes, has pushed Gomes further down the pecking order at Old Trafford. And it looks like Solskjaer has conceded defeat in keeping the 19-year-old midfielder, whose contract expires on Tuesday. The United boss admitted on Gomes: "I've got no news, nothing, so it doesn't look like it." Asked to further clarify if the youngster was leaving Man United, Solskjaer added: "To be honest, I've not heard from them last night or this morning. "So it seems like that they haven't managed to agree [a deal], so the answer is probably short and yes then." Former United manager Jose Mourinho gave Gomes his first-team debut at the age of 16 in May 2017. Jermaine Pennant insists Liverpool have now overtaken Manchester United as the biggest club in the Premier League In May, reports claimed Chelsea were growing increasingly confident of signing Gomes on a free transfer this summer. It is believed the Blues are willing to offer the England Under-20 international a £30,000-a-week deal. Chelsea boss Frank Lampard has placed his faith in the club's youngsters this season by handing senior Blues debuts to EIGHT academy graduates, including Reece James and Billy Gilmour.
