A stretch of the M5 in the West Midlands was closed in both directions this lunchtime with all emergency services at the scene. The closure near Birmingham between junction two for Oldbury and junction three for Quinton and Halesowen caused long delays. Traffic cameras showed long delays approaching the incident scene, with about two-and-a-half miles of congestion on the northbound carriageway and five mile southbound at one point. Traffic was trapped within the closure and Highways England asked affected motorists to be patient. There was been a collision northbound near Worcester, which is causing delays.
Details on this collision, and the West Midlands incident, are in the blog below. West Midlands diversions Traffic is being diverted northbound by the hollow square diversion symbol.
